nothing is wrong - what are you scared of?
Anybody know a good place for backpacks/shoulder sling things? I need one that can hold my ~16inch laptop, digital slr w/ 2 lenses, water, laptop accessories, and maybe a spot to strap my tripod on to. This is mostly for hiking purposes or photo expeditions. I can't seem to find any that have both a laptop and camera compartments..
i will keep looking, but suggestions are awesome :D

http://www.pacdesigns.com/shoulder.htm <- apparently this brand is amazing? should be for the extreme cost.
this is a bit of a schism but:
http://tinyurl.com/mftfd - I almost bought a similar one in vegas, only it was le tigre, instead of lacoste. They were selling for $39. It's a schism because it's not much of a work bag, it just fits the laptop and paperwork and a few textbooks nicely.
Anyway good luck. Umm for backpacks I'm not to sure. I'll keep lookin' :D Best resource for messenger bags I've found so far:

I really like this site.
I am a fan of this one

I think i'd prefer a shoulder sling anyway for easy access to my lenses and stuff in the back part. this ones only $70.
looks ike they have some awesome bags at good prices
dp--i've been thinking about those packs with the hard shells.. i don't really think i like the idea. i like my bags to be somewhat compactible for storage or small loads.

I've been passively looking at backpacks for the past week or so and haven't really seen anything that catches my eye. if I'm going to buy a new one it has to be waterproof, and it's tough finding waterproof stuff. I don't really have the money to spend on one right now anyways, so I'll stick with my cheap-o North Face one I got for free for now.

I'm going to swing this thread in another direction...
I'm looking for hiking/backpacking packs. Any suggestions?
osprey are very nice
arc'teryx are extremely good
make sure you wear it with weight in it before you buy it, and make sure the hip belt fits you properly.
consider the pack's weight against its strength and its volume, and optimize those conditions against your constraint (your budget).
if you can afford it, get an arc'teryx pack.

osprey and arc'teryx are my fav's as well. I really love arc'teryx's designs but ospery's are just downright comfortable, plus i get both those guys with badass discounts!

I would rather invest in a sherpa. And then you can make them wear anything.

I'm seriously looking at the Ospreys. I'm heading down to the store this weekend to give them a try. Right now I'm just trying to figure how much space I actually need.
I too am looking for backpacks. But anything that says laptop, is fscking expensive. :(

Anyone have a faux leather messenger bag link? None of those backpack sites really have anything I like.
Traveling Europe! I'm looking at spending less than $200 for a pack.
*durability
*utility
*under 5 lbs
I need it to primarily carry:
sleeping bag & mat
2 liter platypus
icarus + charger + spare batt
d80 + charger
pair of clothes
So far I came up with this:
Granite Gear Vapor Trail 3600
http://www.granitegear.com/products/backpacks … index.html
Key points:
$160
2 lbs 5 oz.
reviews well - comfortable/light
Unfortunates:
colors (I want the Sage/Black, REI appears to be out of that stock.)
Any help is appreciated. Oh the Osprey bags look really cool! They look highly priced for their customization and appearance though. Customization seems to be mainly about belt comfortability and fit, which is a problem with larger loads. I might go with Osprey or Arc'Teryx if I was doing mountaineering or something a bit more intense.

Uh, I don't like faux leather, but if you want an awesome laptop satchel I would recommend the Domke F-802. It's really for reporters, journalists and bros in the field. I just reviewed mine at BHPhotoVideo, it's pending verification:

I got mine for like $65, they've hiked the price up to $81.
Ok, I bought the GG Vapor Trail! I like it so far. I need to figure out the best way to pack my sleepingbag in there.

dark gray, dp :).
the yellow is on all of them; it's the color of the waterproof lining.
