to be honest, to get what you want, you'd be better off forking the project.
i'd typically say that i want to overhaul the entire codebase myself and add such features, but i honestly don't know if that will happen. too much traveling, moving, more traveling, etc.

of course if forking the project is OK with you I'd consider it, I wouldn't mind writing a custom forum software what's easy to expand on.
