at one time I purchased some screen lock program so I could have music controls on the lockscreen. now I'm using cyanogenmod so I can do next/prev track by holding down the volume up/down buttons; it's nice.
anyway, notable free apps that I use: listen, merriam-webster dictionary, reader, rom manager, simple last.fm scrobbler, superuser, and wapedia.

I bought the Wolfram Alpha app and it sucks. it's just the mobile website but with a huge keyboard.
