you know what is really astounding to me about the freebsd forums?
the amount of time moderators waste copy editing posts. for example,
this one.
the forums are a nice reference, though!

hahahaha, that is completely insane. do they do this regularly?
yeah, i've seen it often.
I've had the most trivial things being edited, such as `teh interwebz' being `corrected' to `the Internet', or some sentence structure altered, or adding tags to stuff that should not (IMHO) have a tag.
Editing posts would be fine, if it would actually contribute, But on the FreeBSD forums I feel it subtracts, especially with the way they do it (marking corrections as bold, or strikethrough).
I made some objections to this. First polity and subtle, then not so polity and subtle, and I ended up calling them a bunch of autistic nazi fucks and pretty much stopped posting.
haha awesome.
p.s. edited your post. the Internet is a proper noun, thus capitalized. :p
it's like they're trying to achieve perfection, but kinda in the worst way possible.

I can't find the post where you call them autistic nazi fucks.
I believe it was this one ... I changed it later to sound slightly less hostile:
https://forums.freebsd.org/showpost.php?p=231 … tcount=220
But it could also have been a PM ... I don't quite recall.
I made a greatly improved version of the translation script someone posted, with a bunch of annotations on why it was better for the benefit of the guy (or anyone else interested in learning shell scripting)... I put quite a bit of time in that, and the changes made were stupid and all were done in the `strikethrough original & put edited version after that' style, which made my post with 2+ hours in it damn near unreadable.
So fuck them.
> p.s. edited your post. the Internet is a proper noun, thus capitalized. :p
Nazi shithead! :)
i can't find the edited script in that thread. did you remove it?
Yes, I edited my post to that message.
You can find it here though:
https://bitbucket.org/Carpetsmoker/config/src … at=default
did they edit your code? like by capitalizing "google"? if so, that's outrageous.
honestly, unless they ask you to accept a policy that gives them copyright to your posts, or if you acknowedge some kind of creative commons license when you post/register, they shouldn't be allowed to do that.
& got `corrected' to and....
