has anyone looked into this os? it's pretty rockin. essentially they were looking to make a distributed os based off of unix to an extent. the idea is that the kernel handles communication with hardware, but everything else runs off of process servers so that tasks may be distributed. another crux is that everything is represented as a file. printers, keyboards, etc... it's all a file so that you can go through the network and use whatever you want for your workstation. also, it only uses one network protocol for everything so it's extremely secure. if i confused anyone i recommend checking wikipedia for it.
rob pike who developed unix from bell labs worked on plan9 for years in addition to an os called <a href="http://www.vitanuova.com/inferno/index.html">inferno</a>. i read about this guy recently because he now works for google.
