I'll start with reviewing the sleeve. Here's the link to the product:

Waterfield designs sleevecase.
I purchased the 22-18 vertical sleeve and it fits my X60s plus 8-cell battery.
Material is high grade, it's a weird but good smooth. Feels like it could take a beating with a pretty good amount of abuse. That's just the outside though. Inside is neoprene lining that has that squishy feel to it. The strap is pretty heavy and it's nice to flap it over because it has some weight to it and it velcroes itself nicely. The velcro isn't too grippy either so it's not going to make a whole lot of noise.
As you can see in this photo:

Charging is pretty accessable. If you had a flap, it would probably have to be open if you want to charge it with the computer in the sleeve. The reason for this is because of the connector on the power cable. If it were an "L" shape there wouldn't be a problem with the flap covering it. All of this can be avoided by not charging it in the sleeve of course.
The case has a little slack noticable, I figure, because of the wedge shape of the X60s. It isn't floppy, it fits fine but on the side of the laptop that's thinner there's just that bit of slack. I'm not sure what going down a size would do, or how tight of a fit that would be. If you want to avoid this particular issue, maybe a horizontal sleeve would work better. In my case though, I wanted this for use in a backpack, and I don't have one quite wide enough to carry it horizontally.
I bought this so I could slip it in my backpack without books scuffing up the case, and for a makeshift mousepad. It works fine as a mousepad. I haven't tried it in my backpack yet. I should also mention that there is a little loop on the bottom of the sleeve that makes removing the laptop just that much easier.
-----------------------------
I also bought a Brenthaven Notebook Case Model 3180. I really like the way the padding is all around the laptop. Here's a link showing the left padding and laptop partially in:

Overall this is a quality bag. The material and zippers are heavy duty. The handles and strap are also heavy duty. It's got a good weight to it. It doesn't hold a whole lot of bulk, but there is one main pocket that holds: 3 pens/markers, an ID plastic view, two flat pockets (flush against the rigid laptop padding), three elastic/netting pockets. On the outside of this main pocket is a smaller pocket.
I like this thing. It's an alternative to carrying the laptop in my backpack & sleeve. It can hold everything I need to use the computer for quite a long time. Mouse, power adapter, extra battery, maybe promo.
I'm going to update this as I find more about the utility of certain features and how it is in use.
i just need to decide between a sleeve and a pelican. :D
I didn't realize from the pics that you had a Waterfield Designs case! I had one of those for my PowerBook and it was beautiful. it just felt really well-built to me. fit the PowerBook like a charm, too.
i finally decided on the waterfield sleevecase. i got a vertical 22-19 with a strap (no flap), d-rings, and a simple shoulder strap.
I like the sleeve case. I wish they were available here.
the velcro on my waterfield case doesn't grip anymore. so i called up waterfield, and they are going to replace it for me for free. they are pretty awesome. and the sleeve only cost $38 originally. that's pretty insane service.
that rules! I used mine to carry my laptop to school today. still going strong.
