Oh! Bela Tarr's "Satan's Tango" is finally getting a proper DVD release next month. 3-DVD set! Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GTJSE4/s … 35?ie=UTF8
You really like that director, I haven't seen a film by him. If I drop the money on this you'll know I'll like it right? :D
phi_
... and let the Earth be silent after ye.
It's a difficult movie to watch. Not only is it more than seven hours long, it's circular. Each scene mimicking the steps to the tango (six forward, six back or something like that). And he'll often hold on one scene for over a half hour, for example: the doctor sitting in his chair writing down everything he sees outside his house. He then goes to get booze and passes out. That's more than a half hour of the film. If you feel you can stand it, watch it. You won't regret it.
That reminds me of coffee and cigarettes by director jim jarmusch, which I ordered on amazon a few weeks ago.
I found a movie because of a show I went to with jk, we saw Amon Tobin. I was looking into more of that DJ's work and I found that he did a score for the movie taxidermia, check this wild movie out:
http://www.taxidermia.hu It's a hugarian flick.

phi_

Ok, before I was content just not being interested in "The Science of Sleep", but now it's taking up three screens at the theatre. This is completely unacceptable. I'm now officially boycotting this movie.

Ok, The Departed was damn good. Martin Scorsese's return to form. Though it suffered from some pacing problems (I'm thinking this was cut down from Scorsese's original edit) in the beginning, it held it's own and nearly surpassses the original trilogy of movies it was based on. Recommended!

The book is from the eighteen-eighties -- and is awesome.
You like Ayn, so your opinion is less worthwhile than those who dislike Ayn.

That hurt more than I would have expected.
Yeah, I'm not impressed with the trailer (I enjoyed the book for what it was). Same with "Blood and Chocolate."
who said i like ayn? i enjoyed reading her enormous books and philosophy when i was in high school.
phi_

And I was just being an ass -- don't take it seriously. :p If you don't like the book, you don't like it. No big deal.
And "Blood & Chocolate" -- hahahaha. How hard did they work to mess that up? It seems they could have just done a faithful adaptation more easily...

I'm looking forward to the releases (DVD or theatrical) of: Hohokam, Quiet City/Dance Party USA, and Team Picture.
*sigh* I saw Juno last night. Don't know why that sounded like a good idea. There was one AMAZING scene in it, though: where the adoptive parents talk about which color to paint the nursery. If you ignore the "desert colored wall" jokes, it's absolutely amazing.

I think people went into it with to high of expectations. There was no way they could top raiders of the lost ark or the last crusade. Knowing that, all I wanted was for it to be better than The Temple of Doom, which it was. So overall I thought it was pretty good.
