PeerGuardian was decent but it just seems like a pain unless your dowloading a gig a day. My favorite app. was called Minilyrics - plugin for iTunes that has scrolling text lyrics in sync with the song.

irfanview looks nice. I need that for OS X.

every program I use is free, so the list would be long...

a couple that stand out are Adium (open source multiprotocol instant messaging for OS X), VLC, and 7-zip.

anybody tried running autohotkeys? i have all of my programs scripted though autohotkeys to open the program when called if there is no instance of it already running, to set windows to focus on the program if there is an instance already running but not focused on, and to open a new instance of the program if the program is running and currently focused on. it allows me to seamlessly multitask between many different programs simultaneously without having to tediously navigate by the limited screen space of my monitor or the clumsy way the windows taskbar handles multiple programs. and there is a lot more i could do with it if I thought of anything else worth scripting.

lookup silverex for windows... it's xchat compiled by someone else for free... xchat is open source... so you can just compile it and distro it.

in short xchat is free on windows... just not from xchat.org as a binary.

yeah irssi is nicer, but if you're on 10+ server and 30 rooms, it gets a bit annoying

Why does an IRC client need a CD player?

irssi has perl though, so you can do anything with irssi that you can do with perl

just discovered subsonic.

using it to stream my 450 gb music library to the office. i would use a upnp server but i have issues with the office firewall and foobar. it's much easier to use subsonic's built-in flash player. it also has support for last.fm. no apparent blackberry support though :(
