so does anyone here do geocaching?

i have done quite a bit, but i've only succeeded in finding a cache 1.5 times. it seems insanely hard!

There are some easy, some hard. My family does a bunch in billings.

i can't find any billings heights caches! (except for one and the first stage of another..)

if I had a gps :o

Are you really having that hard of a time? My dad has found all of the caches in and around Billings. He has a few out there too. My brother has his own GPS and has found a few as well. I have gone a few times, but never understood the appeal. As a warning: Never try and get a first-to-find. These cachers are insane and could very well shoot you to get the find.

Have you found any near/at Riverfront Park? How about the airport? Boothill Cemetery has a few good ones too. Until you get the hang of it, avoid micro. They are _maybe_ a film canister. And, if my dad placed it, camo'ed. I have heard of some cut into a tree or in a fence post (The MacGyver Cache).

i'm sorry to say i don't really see the appeal either. i guess it is a good excuse to get out of the house and all.

THE MACGYVER IS IN THE FENCE POST?!?!? i've looked for that on three seperate occasions.

jk: that's all it is. something to do in billings instead of drive around. i wouldn't do it in bozeman unless i was bored out of my mind like i always am in bmt.

I've been wanting to try it, but I don't know anyone with a GPS unit. :(

There are quite a few in the heights. Sometimes, you just have to look for anything that might not fit.

i havent thought about geocaching in years but today its come up 3 times within the last 2 hours.

my girl asked me if i knew what 'geocaching' was just randomly today, then a geocaching article on reddit then looking over lucas' site again he had a link. i looked up my area and there is a ridiculous amount near me. thousands and thousands. crazy.

with todays technology seems kinda... not as fun. iphone + geocaching == fish + barrel

you might be surprised. i've spent hours looking for caches with a gps only to fail. i think i've found like one or two out of many attempts.
