Does this site not believe in capital letters?

haha
I only capitalize "I" consistently when on the Internet. I also sparingly capitalize proper nouns depending on my mood.
unless I'm trying to seem smart or something :).
one of the predecessors of ttf was a blog (wlwlv1) that for a while converted all posts to lowercase. the feature was disabled only because it broke links.
personally, i think lowercase is stylish. :x

i like large datasets
i think it goes with the simplicity of the site anyway.

I dunno... I'm a total grammar nazi. I like my capitals.

I'm pretty strict about most grammar too, like apostrophes and stuff. but for some reason capitals just turn me off in such an informal forum as this.
I have a grammar question unrelated to capitalization (thought I am quite neutral on the subject. I capitalize when I capitalize, nothing more).
When asking a question and making a statement combined into one sentence which is correct, using a question mark or period to mark the end of the cause?
Example
1. Could you tell me when you me when we are meeting and I will see if I can fit it in.
2. Could you tell me when you me when we are meeting and I will see if I can fit it in?
First one feel right but it doesn't remove the question.
i would claim that both are poor stylistically. how about:
"please tell me when you'd like to meet, and i'll let you know if the time works for me."
agreed. I like your answer but it still doesn't answer the question.
Sorry for the obvious error, I just caught it. It should read.
Example
1. Could you tell me when we are meeting and I will see if I can fit it in.
2. Could you tell me when we are meeting and I will see if I can fit it in?
capitalization is silly, and purely typographical. that is, you pronounce a word the same way no matter if it's capitalized or not. it's bad typography too, because it's like having dropcaps all over your text. one at the start should be enough
lower case letters should be used for everything, since they're a lot easier to discern because the height of the letters are variable. example: THINKTANKFORUMS versus thinktankforums. also, if only lower case letters were used, there would be less confusion with letters like I and l (upper case i and lower case L)
on ttf, irc and other informal fora, i follow a consistent style: no capitalization of proper nouns or at the start of a sentence or anything like that, i only use upper case for emphasis; and no full stop at the end of paragraphs. i do however sometimes end paragraphs with an exclamation mark or a question mark, but i don't feel the need to end them with both a little dot and a lot of whitespace
curiously i don't follow this style when i write sms messages, as my phone defaults to automatically capitalizing the first word after a full stop. i also use "proper" punctuation in sms messages. i think this is because i hate stupid sms abbreviations, and want to do just the opposite to protest the use of them. fortunately, i don't see much of them nowadays except the occasional, dreadful "lol" and its derivatives
meta: i think this is my first long rant on ttf. yay me :)
now to post this, read through it, find some mistakes, archive it, and then rewrite and repost it :D

"Effects of Email Format and Instructions on Reading Times, Content Retention, and Reader Preference"
http://hubel.sfasu.edu/courseinfo/SL03/email_study.htm
concluding remarks are bogus. if they wanted to test how text formatting affects people in the NAVY then they should have just sampled NAVY people. i bet most navy people get so accustomed to reading all caps that the difference in retention and time spent reading would be statistically insignificant between mixed text formatting and all caps. some might even get better at reading all caps if they don't do much reading outside of NAVY documents.

capitalization isn't silly when you want to be taken seriously! I mean in like an academic context or something.
also, who the hell confuses I and l, unless you're typing them by themselves like that? (and who the hell types a lowercase l by itself unless they're referencing it specifically?)
you shouldn't need to capitalize to be taken seriously :)

Uncapitalized text looks sloppy IMO.
I don't even notice that I type capitals ... I just do ... hardwired in my fingers I guess ...
