I am going to buy a road bike and ride over one hundred miles. I would also like to play piano more. I would also like to meet a lady.

Long-term (end of 2007):

"dude, if i could have this all hooked up today, and be rollin' out tomorrow with a big fucking smile on my face... YEAH!!!" --me talking to myself one minute ago
i'm trying to get my room rented, because there's this apartment i want to move into. it features:
$375/month rent, no lease agreement (month-to-month agreement), one block from main street in the heart of downtown, 1br, 1ba. i'm in love.
phi_

Snatch that up!
asemisldkfj

wow, that sounds like an amazing deal, lucas.
if you've got any questions about the fixie-building, or just want to talk about it, shoot me an IM!
so it's done. i got someone to rent out my room. in addition, caitlin in going to move in with me in the new apartment! looks like i just fulfilled my goals from july from the "my plan" thread:
1.) move out of the cabin
2.) find some apartment with caitlin

nothing is wrong - what are you scared of?
jan/feb -> trying to save up to buy some stuff for the cambodia/vietnam trip
Jun-Aug -> might move into my friend Danielle's Grandma's garage-basement in Powell
Jun - ? -> work a lot and save money (will be working at the hospital and a screen printing business)
summer -> maybe go to a few concerts if they appear
summer -> i want to learn a new language so i'll see what summer language classes they have. I am particularly interested in Italian for no good reason. but i suppose spanish will do.
all year -> take more pictures!
sounds pretty awesome, p-bros.
phi_

Oh, added one:
March: Go see DragonForce!

Summer-> Intern at St.V's with zach and look into bio-medical career
Summer-> Hit up as many concerts as possible
Year round plan-> enjoy the outdoors more and cut back on my drinking.
phi_

I've been listening to DragonForce for EIGHT YEARS ... it's about damned time I see them live.

Summer just try to work a lot and make mad money bags
Hopefully by the end of next year finish my 4 year degree and start a business.
Travel outside of the country, this recent trip to Cancun showed me how cool it is to travel outside of the country.
all year -> Go outdoors more, get a hand gun for entertainment, stop my illegal activities because jail doesnt sound plesant.
> this recent trip to Cancun
yeah, how was that trip, by the way? i was some pictures on facebook. maybe you could bust a new thread and share
> my illegal activities
like what?
Cancun was awesome got to go snorkling, zip lining, rapelling into cenontes (might be spelled with an s), see a different culture. I have stories that could go on for hours, but unfortunately im too lazy to type it all out. And I have an album on facebook of some of the pictures I have my sister also has one up that has a lot more pictures. As far as the illegal activities yeah I dont really know if I want to divulge that on the internetz, but larz if you hit me up sometime ill let ya know.
sounds like fun.
and fair enough about the public words to know.
so the previous deal with a friend's company renting my room fell through. but i found someone else and we signed the papers today and i got the check. now a worry-free larz gets to enjoy his new apartment! pictures soon!

goals for today: Move an old lab out of a classroom. Finish up this custom ghosting CDR. Watch an obscene amount of Misty Mundae movies on company time.
Nice larz, who took your spot? just some gg random person?
gg? yeah, some dude who is a nursing student and who has been chilling in argentina for a few months. he's pretty cool, he lived in a shack for a year so he's all about my cabin.

i have five jobs this semester:
research project through university scholars program, $750 stipend (expected)
teaching assistant (grading) for an economics professor, $96/week, about 2-3 hours/week
research assistant for an economics professor, $12/hour
tutoring some women's tennis player an hour/week
doing some web development for dp's cousin joe for about $12/hour
Sweet I hadn't heard if you were going to do anything on his site or not :)
I still like your grading job too, just about an entire bill every week on that one..too bad it's not $100 flat.
well, it's the same prof. that i do research for at $12/hour. he pays me an 8-hour weekly salary, but the job only takes 2-3 hours/week. so it's $96 gross.

if anyone's interested, I ate some tacos that night. I also steamed some potatoes and ate those. or it might have been carrots. I had tacos two nights in a row :).
I don't think I have any new goals right now. I'd like to get some speakers for my stereo receiver and a CD changer and maybe a digital piano.
you should post up your soekris on ttf. some people here might appreciate it.

> I almost dropped $500 on a new compy!
meaning which?
(a) you bought these parts, and almost spent $500
(b) you almost bought these parts, which would have cost $500
apparently he meant (b).
i was just declined admission to university of rochester. twelve more schools to go...
Oh shit, I forgot. Yeah (b).
> you just got a laptop! or so it seems. what is the desktop for?
Large capacity storage, movies on a large screen, desktop replacement. Like I said though, I don't really need it, if I have the extra cash later maybe I'll do it. I want to set it up so I can do solid backup of my laptop.
note: if either of you two wants to unload said lenovo laptops, i'm down for a reasonable price...
No way I love this thing, even though I spilled a glass of tea on the keyboard. Drip holes rock!
fair enough dp, i doubt i could afford it anyway.
Actually the tablet looks really sweet, higher resolution and all.
The only thing I might want besides what I've got is a new big display. 1024x768 on a 12" just kills when you could rock a 19" @ 1600x1200 extended desktop like I do at home. I still would like to replace my CRT though because it's kinda washed out looking and the white isn't too white any longer.

sell some nikon lenses. still debating if i should sell the nikon or convert it to IR.. hm

i still have to hear back from nyu and caltech; i've gotten rejected by every other school.

it's either that or a job. sigh
caltech declined me admission. but it appears that i might get accepted to nyu. it seems that i'm in their second round of offers. so i'm hoping that i'll get rescued from montana (..and get to live in nyc!)
otherwise, i'll be doing the m.s. in applied economics here at msu next year, most likely.

short term: get director pos. at q2
long term: make it in a top 100 market by 25
so no more it?
asem- good goals.
db- what do you mean, top 100 market?
in television broadcast regions are divided by markets according to the viewing population, 1 being the largest (New York City).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcast_market#Television
right now billings is market 171, second only to Missoula in Montana, but when taken in the grand scheme of things we're only 40 from the smallest broadcast population. ideally i'd move to khq in spokane (market 77) as i have a friend working there right now, but realistically there'd probably be no chance if i didn't know anyone there since a 100 market jump is pretty huge.
another option would be to go to wral in raleigh, nc (market 29) as they are ktvq's sister station and i would have an in through that. this option is
very unlikely as it's a ~150 market jump.
i feel dirty just talking about using contacts to make big jumps though...
Wow. Impressively hierarchical.
Good luck!

ooo, nice. what do you want to do after you graduate (long-term plans!)
no idea. maybe a ph.d in econ, maybe grad studies in philosophy or math/stats.
i'm really not picky with my life
nestor your site is madstatus homage to your school. I don't think I've ever seen so much school status repped like that. You have it as the header on your resume, and all over your site!
the header is meaningful... the rando sidebar thing is not. i need to kill that.
i would really like to learn how to do clothing alterations.
nestor: i was big into making my own clothes for a while, pants are hard... i'm still considering going back to my plans and making a pair.
yeah where the fuck are those photog pants? I'm down with purchasing a pair and maybe a few supplies for ya!
i just found out that the 2nd quarter estimated taxes are due on june 15th, not july 15th! so i'm doing my taxes tonight. :(
snap! just found this in irs pub. 505:
Estimated tax not required. You do not have to pay estimated tax for 2007 if you meet all three of the following conditions.
* You had no tax liability for 2006.
* You were a U.S. citizen or resident alien for the whole year.
* Your 2006 tax year covered a 12-month period.
so i don't have to pay estimated taxes after all. \o/
dp: yeah, i'm considering getting back into tailoring some pants... it's just a matter of finding my rhythm at q2 with the new position and finding the time to build a new pattern. let's say 1 - 1.5 months?
that's good news, db! :D
