Hello. This is my first post here. Dannyp got me interested.

Anywho... I was just wondering who all was an artist here and what field/major they are in?

I noticed AndyP seems to be in photography.

I am finishing up my sophomore year at Northern Michigan University at their School of Art and Design as a BFA in Graphic Design, although I am pretty decent at Illustration and Photography.

My favorite artist is: Richard May.

And... go!

dp: you've got to be joking !

I am a photo major at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming.. Thought I love art photography, my favorite photographer is probably James Nachtwey who is a photojournalist.. followed closely by Jerry Uelsmann for his insane darkroom stuff.

I don't think i'm very artistic at all though.

i guess double subdomains don't work, ap.

i have done some photography (i like doing portraits and nudes the most), and i'd like to do more drawing and painting.

i don't study art, and i don't know much about it.

andyp: I noticed on your DA that you have a tokina 12-24! I have a sigma 10-20 that I use with my D70s. How's the tokina working out for you? The sigma is amazing! Best lense I have baught!

it works great. It was a close tie between me getting the sigma and the tokina, but I read more reviews and tests that convinced me to go for the 12-24 here...

This summer will hopefully yield a d200 and maybe I can get a dedicated IR camera also soonish.

Whoa, never noticed this thread. I have painted on and off for about ten years now, pretty much all wildnerness watercolour, in northern Ontario. It isn't the most interesting thing artistically, that's for sure :)

I do some digital photography, a lot of painting, some crude sculpture and pottery as well as creative writing (short stories and the like). My painting is probably the most developed (at least currently).

Here are some recent stuff though I cannot exaggerate the quantity of paintings, sketches, and random stuff that I have produced over the years. www.francissmart.com

If anybody is interested in exchanging short stories I could dig up some of my old ones or write a new few. I would be eager to get feedback and see what others are doing.

As for majors, I am masters in econ and don't expect to be studying anything else in an academic setting for a while.

Anybody checked out Andy Goldsworthy's stuff. Pretty unbelievably awesome. I would post a single webpage link but it is probably best just to search google images to get a real sampling. ap should dig.

I was thinking about submitting this set to the university gallery. It is really divided into two major series. Universe paintings and nudes. Universe paintings are really big but there are only two of them.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/31624218@N06/set … 783389497/

Any suggestions or recommendations. I will rephotograph some of them for the submission (in particular the ones with carpet in the background).
