... and let the Earth be silent after ye.
I haven't done this, really, since about high school. But when they moved in a construction dumpster next my apartment building, my friends and I had to look around.
So, we pulled a nice, though cushion-less, leather couch out. Great!
Naturally the next thing we do is drive around other dumpsters looking for cushions for the thing. After about a half hour or so we're driving behind a big chain store and what do we find ...
a perfectly working 57" (IIRC) TV. Well, the screen needs adjustment, but that's easy enough. Oh, and some cushions for the couch, three others couches (that we didn't take) and a sofa chair (that we did take).
Oh man, I love this town!

nice! I love trash. I found the TV that I have in my house right now on the curb outside of someone's house in my mom's neighborhood, nothing apparently wrong with it except for the panel that covers the buttons is missing. it's probably my favorite TV I've ever had.
good catches! :)
I've never gone dumpster diving, sounds exciting.

Going again tonight. Wish me luck.

good luck! once it's warmer out I'm sure I'll find some trash when I'm out on my bike at night.

So what happened? Man you need to tell me where these spots are! I'm fixing to move out.

We didn't really find anything the next night. But we attended an auction held by a storage company, and I got me a Super Pac-Man arcade machine for $12+tax. Tonight we dived into some industrial lathe shavings and took about 150 pounds for scrapping. Took a half hour of work...
sounds like a sweet deal for the pac-man machine

Got me a new(well, used) computer and laser printer for $11 from a guy who bought a storage unit at the auction. Decent enough. Will be just fine replacing the 100MHz laptop that bit the dust...
