some of you know about the index card system that myself, dp, and others use. i also previously mentioned creating a web-based complete life management system:
http://www.thinktankforums.com/thread.php?thr … #post-3355

well this summer i plan to do just that.

there should be an interface for goals. they will carry dates and unique id numbers. you may create labels (e.g., project names or confidentiality levels) and assign multiple labels to each goal. you may create notes or upload images and link these to the goal.

once many goals exist, you will have an interface with which you can prioritize on a timeline. in addition, you can view the timeline for each project, so you can see a dynamic sequence of steps to take. this should be very intuitive, allowing the user to drag goals before or after others, creating a prioritization and schedule.

here's the cool part: google has an api for google calendar. my php software will then allow you to schedule tasks based on your prioritized goals.

:D

Then you need a gps tracking system that uses KML to track you and plot you with the google api on your calendar :D Also if you haven't used google earth lately you can do a timeline where you hit go and it tracks movement. I saw a demo of this that tracked some kind of shark in the atlantic. Useful? I don't know, not really yet. I could see how it might be though, your device knows your coordinates passively all the time, you think about and decide on going somewhere new, you don't know how to get there. Punch the destination in and it gives you a path from where you are.

I'm not trying to be super ridiculous but things like this seem like they will be common in a totally connected future. Once PDA phones are even more prevalent as regular consumer phones or just the PDA functions within more advancement in midlevel phones, and with bluetooth, it would seem that all of this is going to be seamless pretty quickly. Depending on where you look, proprietary examples of voip and video conferencing on cell phones exist, pda/phone/email combo devices are popping up with every vendor.

Making the infrastructure of standards, xml, kml, and the api to tie it together to organization and news feeds and such seems to be the beginning of the seamlessness and ease of live information and data repositories anywhere you are.

I think it would be a good thing to do if you don't have to spend an extremely long amount of time building it. I'm sure you could come up with a very useful and awesome GTD calendar system taking advantage of existing tech that will look hot.

i'm real serious about making a basic gtd and project management system. it would be a hosted solution, with free registration.

i'd gladly accept ideas for the project name. i want a .com domain. i'm thinking something along the lines of odometer.com, ontherun.com, &c (all of which are taken).

I take that back, I'm really liking the gtd-php package. I had to change one or two lines to make it all work though.
