anyone else taken this before?
my only gripe with the political compass is that questions like "A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system" are stupid. of COURSE that's an advantage of a one-party state. if I select "agree" or "strongly agree" does that mean that I think it's an advantage worth sacrificing other things for? of course not. so I never know how to answer that question. some other ones are annoyingly badly worded too. oh well.
here are my scores as of right now:
Economic Left/Right: -7.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.31
I'm always hoverin' around 6.5 for each, though I find myself answering or at least thinking about some questions differently every time I take it.
http://www.politicalcompass.org/index
the questions are really annoying to me.
Economic Left/Right: -0.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.85
I think this has to do with me not liking the agree, disagree, and strongly when I think there's plenty more to the answer, and wanting to identify it.

Some very bad questions on that test. Impossible to answer with the options given.

This seems to have a less than left wing bias.

I got "liberal libertarian" on that one.
Your PERSONAL issues Score is 90%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 50%.
Funny. That quiz gives me 80% personal, 10% economic.
I consider myself pretty centrist, and I do a lot of political work for the centre-right party (in Canada.. which is still left-wing in the States).

The questions are very loaded, though ... while I agreed with certain things, it was for reasons other than what they listed. *shrug*
haha that quiz makes me into a communist... i am actually centre-right. well i think i am, at least.

I'm gradually becoming more and more anarchist. Like anarcho-syndicalist, the real deal.
Which is disturbing for someone who is planning on working in the capital markets
and was once a conservative :(

like full-out anti-capitalist?
I was reading through some of my papers that I wrote in high-school today. 'Why Abortion Should be Banned' ... hmm, how things change...
Economic Left/Right: 0.00 (that is about right. lots of stupid questions I would rather of answered uncertain about)
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.31

a>>like full-out anti-capitalist?
anarcho-syndicalist = anti-capitalist? I don't follow...(damn it, okay I don't fallow either but that is because I don't have anything to fallow!)

anarchism is kind of implicitly anti-capitalist.
i disagree. i thought that anarchism was anti-institution. capitalism is anti-institution!
yes, anti-capitalist.
i disagree, lr...

anarchism isn't necessarily anti-institution. maybe anti-current-institutions. but it's not anti-organizational or anything, just anti-authoritarian.
yeah, anarcho-syndicalism is all about the councils
i am the type of anarchist who thinks we should be divided into small states based on population (maybe 1 or 3 million) each independent and having its own federal democracy. competition between states for citizens and businesses would limit the authoritarian nature of individual governments and the size of individual governments would limit the scale of corruption.

that's not really anarchism if there is any type of hierarchical government involved. anarchism isn't about limiting authority, it's about getting rid of it entirely.
however, you make a good point in the sense that I don't think that anarchism is very feasible, at least not in any of our lifetimes. the ideal of living in a society that requires no government is I think a decent goal, but I don't think it's very realistic. I'm not sure it's even desirable, but that's another conversation I suppose.
no government sounds really good.

Ditto.
capitalism is anti-authoritarian!
I can agree with that. My problems are with externalities & consent...
at a certain extremes capitalism could be authoritarian. if you are extremely poor (similar to much of the world i think) you may be forced to buy or sell your goods from only a handful of participants such as in a monopoly or monopsony in order to survive.
