2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 1x1GB

lenovo t61 ($1,263.95 with educational discount)
Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz 800MHz 4MBL2)
Windows XP Professional
14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/o Camera
nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M
1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
100GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm

ThinkPad 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II

i think she would receive the mbp pretty quickly, but i bet she wouldn't get the tp for a few weeks.

thoughts/considerations?

... and let the Earth be silent after ye.
T61.

I've noticed that some campuses don't like Macs too much ... whether it be sotfware, etc... That and, well, it's not a Mac. :-P

She might appreciate the design on the MBP more than the TP. That said, $ for $, TP beats the mbp for sure.

well almost every spec of the tp is slightly below that of the mbp.

i appreciate the design of the mbp considerably. i don't know how fat the tp is, but i guarantee it is fatter.

but, alas, my sister doesn't want a mac. (of course, due to the os.) but i guess it doesn't matter with boot camp.

so i don't know.

it still kinda matters with Boot Camp. stuff like right-clicking with the single-button mouse is a pain in the ass on Windows. control+click doesn't work unless you run applemou.exe, which screws up stuff like selecting files while holding down control.

so yeah, not every little kink is ironed out, is what I'm saying.
