I am working on a small project, called Flash Forum. It's an .SWF based forum. Yes. Flash based. I'm thinking about whether I should use AS 2.0 or AS 3.0, something I may not be able to get.

Basically, the idea is a forum that can be <embed>ed anywhere that allows HTML. Meaning someone can have their own forum on their My-Space
Skinning is as easy as opening the .fla and editing the location of it all. Also, it would be better visually, seeing as it's vector based and not bitmapped images.
I know it's POSSIBLE, I just don't know how plausible it is.

kinda a cool idea. and probably not too hard, either. i'd do a lot of backend in php (or something else) with minimal AS.
If I can do it in 100 percent AS and JS it's a miracle.
I'm thinking how I should start, I got the general ideas, it's the implementation that's hard. I need actionscripters for the things you don't think of, like scrollbars, also need some way to put advertising in there. The good thing is that alot of ads are .swf based. Unfortunately, it will not be dynamic unless I can get a way to make it dynamic...

I've been told that flash can interface directly with php, and even query a database using SQL. I'm interested in the project if you can get me some information and commitment.

The problem with swfBB is that it looks like HTML. Mine is prettier and feature-rich...er...
