I've been practicing on my handwriting for a few months now. I seem to keep slipping back to the way I used to write though. I posted on craigslist a while ago searching for someone who might want to practice online or otherwise. I just got this weird reply today, check it:
Dear Handwriting Master,
I also have been struggling with poor handwriting my entire life. I can not be grateful enough for the computer because you couldn't read anything. Now, I only have one question for you. Have you ever been diagnosed with ADD or Learning Disabilities.
You can have many types of Learning Disabilities. You don't need to have just Dyslexia or Dysgraphia, but may parts of the brain that control perception or balance that may impact the finest motor coordination can create handwriting that is not " so pretty".
My handwriting is so bad that I get checks back from the bank all the time with the little white slips below. They don't even recognize my signature.
I sure hope you can look into this to determine if there is something more behind this than just a bad habit. Once you understand that there might be something more.. You can find a sense of peace.
That comes from knowlege. :-)

Just thought I'd share.

I'm a guy who has small sub-par handwriting. I've been practicing my script handwriting and I like the progress I've made. I want to keep up the work though and hopefully get motivated by others. One day I hope to have above average handwriting. I'd like to get in touch with people who would like to practice with me in person.
I'm interested in meeting up to do a bit more concentrated handwriting practice. I'd like to see your handwriting too, send me an email if you want to meet up. Or even a photo/scan of your handwriting if you really want to impress me :D
here are some links to flickr for inspiration: your handwriting group another handwriting group lastly a calligraphy group
Thanks for your time
that guy sucked :(
and i was pretty sure that (most) banks don't check signatures anymore. i just scribble some lines for my signature most of the time.

Nice. I've been working on my own handwriting for a while. My handwriting has been improving considerably every year, but it's still pretty much only legible to me unless I stop and try really hard to write neatly. It's an amalgamation of script and block lettering that most people don't seem to grasp for whatever reason. I think it's fine, but apparently not. It was born from my brain always working faster than my hand ever could and things became collections of bumps on lines that curved ever so slightly in tell-tale directions. Agh!
I think I'll break out one of my Moleskins and start practicing script.

I love tweaking my handwriting :). a while back I trained myself to write lowercase Ds like backwards sixes. I start at the top of the loop, go counter-clockwise, and then go up. I do lowercase Bs similarly, except I start at the top.

δελτα
the δελτα tail goes right, and it sounds as if asemi's "d" goes left.
the greeks don't spell out "δ" as "δελτα," do they?

I try to make it straight up but it strays to the left occasionally.
ah
The hellenes do spell "delta" δελτα. With an accent on the epsilon.
I spent a month in greece and learned the script.
well enough to teach me classical greek? ;o

damn it wheres is edit...... When I was a little kid I got to scan signatures for them a couple times
I too have the problem that I'm making up text faster than i can transcribe it. Only when I'm handwriting, though.
