(15:26:09) lucas: i have so much old stuff on my computer
(15:26:14) lucas: i'm trying to organize it
(15:26:28) lucas: and leave myself little helpful notes so i'll remember what it all is in the future
(15:26:55) christy: that is an extensive project.
(15:27:06) lucas: not too horrible
(15:27:11) lucas: it's already fairly organized
(15:27:22) lucas: imagine the organization of my room in a computer
(15:27:30) lucas: it just needs some tidying up
(15:28:12) christy: haha, very organized then.
(15:28:29) lucas: if you ever get ultra bored, i have something that you can read
(15:28:37) lucas: that may be mildly entertainign
(15:28:50) christy: what?
(15:29:04) lucas: all the text messages that i sent on my old phone
(15:29:10) lucas: i typed most of them into my computer
(15:29:14) lucas: for archival purposes
(15:29:29) lucas: when i'm 25, i'll have massive archives
(15:29:41) lucas: i'll need a large fire-proof basement, surely.
(15:31:26) christy: oooh, bordering on creepy. but thats the best. when you have house guests you can warn them, "you may go anywhere you like, but never the west wing. do you hear me? NEVER the west wing!!"
(15:31:35) lucas: hahah

I have a promise vtrack 15100 in my apt. With 15 250 gig sata disks in it. I can lose any 5 drives in it and data will still be intact. And That's just my data Archiving of important data.

I have an additional d1000 scsi storage array I have but the project I slotted that for is still small enough it doesn't need it yet so I haven't bothered configuring it.

the law is no protection
yeah that's pretty ridiculous, haha. I used to have a RAID-1 array of a couple hard drives with my music and movies on it. now I've just got an external drive I back stuff up to every once in a while. mostly I'm concerned about photos and other images I have. music I can re-rip, and movies and I can re-download.

haha, it's not like they're home videos or anything. in that case they'd be a lot more important. the day when I digitize a bunch of old family photos and videos I will be a lot more concerned!
