so what's the deal with this thread?
yet another search mistake of 2007.

Grado for the win.
oooo those are nice.
someday...
buying new shure e2cs today, i think.
also buying some grado opens (sr-60s) this summer for home listening
> also buying some grado opens (sr-60s) this summer for home listening
How about my Sennheiser HD595s instead? :)
you're selling them? name the price
Let's say $ 100 plus shipping. OK?
i'll have to think about it, for the same price i can get gradozzz
You should listen to both, and compare them. :)
apple store retails senn cx300s for c$90.
that's ABSURD!
so yeah, i think i'll be going with the grado sr-60s. i've only heard positive things about them. this will be my audio setup:
- open ears (grado sr-60): home use, when speakers are not appropriate (nights, etc.)
- iem (shure scl2 - apparently e-series is discontinued!): with portable music player
- stereo (era design 5 / accuphase / assemblage): home use
got the scl2s last night. love them.. just like my last two pairs of e2cs :)
i'm sort of pissed off that shure was all underhanded with their iems though. basically what they did is rename the e-series to the scl-series and move them to the 'pro audio' designation. the new consumer audio se-series uses crappier equipment, appears to have cheaper construction, and costs significantly more than the pro-audio scls.
You can have my HD595s for free if you pay for shipping. I'm not keeping them when I move anyway.

whatttttttt?!?!?! if you don't want those nestor, I will give you 50 USD for them bluet.
I like money... OK, let's do it, asemisldkfj.
that's quite the price reduction :o
okay, wtf, bidding war time

the law is no protection
hahaha, what is the proper etiquette here? I feel bad for screwing up nestor's free deal now. if nestor wants them for free, he's got 'em. only way I'll pay for them is if he doesn't want them at all.
Can I bid $60? ;)
Of course. You live in Europe, right Carpetsmoker? If so, I can bring them to your nearest train station this summer. :)
I can probably do $100 ppd
ppd?
postage paid
> Of course. You live in Europe, right Carpetsmoker?
Yes, I live in the Netherlands
(And just for the record, my post wasn't serious, I have two good headphones already).
Looks like nestor is getting them, then.
> Yes, I live in the Netherlands
Cool, let's meet up. :)

fml? :\

Étrangère
I am not a robot...
We could rename the thread guess the acronym!
> > Yes, I live in the Netherlands
>
> Cool, let's meet up. :)
I live in Eindhoven, which is in the south (funny enough in a province called North-Brabant), if you are serious, it's best to contact me on email: carpetsmoker@xs4all.nl
Following Étrangère suggestion:

OK, nestor, how do we do this?
i dunno bro, i'm sketched out by
"Let's say $ 100 plus shipping"
"You can have my HD595s for free if you pay for shipping"
"I will give you 50 USD for them"
"Can I bid $60"
"I can probably do $100 ppd"
my economic intuitions are destroyed :(((
yeah, what happened
Shipping will be NOK 322 or C$ 55.87 with today's rates. So C$ 100 looks good to me.
eep, it's that much? $100 all in is a fair price then.
how long can i put this off for - when are you moving?
One week from now I won't have a home, but I guess I can have a friend of mine keep it for me. Or I could sent it to you now and trust you'll pay up when you can.
how secure do you think the shipping container will be in terms of ensuring they aren't broken?
also, are they mint/near mint? want to snap a pic or two?
I sent a few video cards to U.S. some time ago ... The package arrived weeks later in a pretty mangled state, customs were not kind ... cards were OK though ...
Guess they suspected either Dutch herbs or bomb timers ...
> how secure do you think the shipping container will be in terms of ensuring they aren't broken?
The case the headphones came in is pretty sturdy. I could put that box inside another box and fill it with soft stuff.
> also, are they mint/near mint? want to snap a pic or two?
They're a little dusty, I've lost the jack/minijack adapter and there's a hole in thing that holds the foam in:

Here are some other pics:

i took kitty to headroom and she got a pair of
grados.
nice. that's the exact model i need to decide on... the grados and the used sennheiser 595s are about the same price for me.
the hole doesn't bother me much, minijack adapter isn't a huge deal either, i think cardas makes a pretty cheap one. i guess i'm just sore over $50 worth of shipping, but it is still a good deal!
aaand i'm still considering those grados. bah

senns and grados sound pretty vastly different, don't they? I've never given a good listen to a pair of grados, unfortunately.
last pair of shures to have channel problems. i need some new IEMs. any advice?
nope. sorry :[

still swear by the sony mdr-v6 line.
I am not the only one. I now own two pairs.
Happy CX300II owner.
anyone? i'm still using shures that have channels that cut in and out. not limited to IEMs, just can't have a lot of sound leakage.
what about the options in
this thread?
i just bought a pair of the shure se215 iem. to be honest, largely because of the low-end shure iem hype from this thread. i liked that b&h sells a kit with the clear audio cable
and a black mic/remote cable for the regular price of the standalone iems.
here's my review of the shure se215 iem after 1 minute of listening (arrogant!):
the bass response and clarity is good
highs are disappointing in clarity and tinniness
sound isolation is good
er6i clarity is much better, from my recollection (but the er6i response is flat with minimal bass)
audiophilia is a fucking curse. get new $100 headphones and immediately hear what they lack. so dumb
got them because i recently bought a plantronics bluetooth headset for calls while walking. but the audio quality was garbage. so i said "fuck that, i'll get good audio and mic with wires." settled on the se215 kit, but a bit disappointed
the a-t earsuit headphones i have are fucking great. so is my car audio. so is my home audio, even if it doesn't have the same bass. but all are solid in clarity and enjoyability
i should just blow out my ears then not worry about this shit
audio equips
office
headroom total bithead dac/amp
audio-technica earsuit ath-esw9 closed headphones
home
nad d3020 dac/amp
wharfedale diamond 10.1 (rosewood)
car
jvc mosfet ~50w/4-channel deck
infinity 3-way component system
infinity (~500w) mono sub amp
pioneer (maybe) 10" sub
other options
etymotic research er6i iem (rarely used)
shure se215 iem (just bought)
> i should just blow out my ears then not worry about this shit
or find music so good that you don't care about imperfect reproduction :)
