I hate that I didn't complete the computer case that I worked on modding since probably 2001. I have it here still, I took out the motherboard and moved it into a cheap black and uncut case. I'm throwing away the case whenever I find a dumpster. I'm going to put it in my car.

The computer that used to be in it still works fine. PIII 600mhz with 128 megs of ram and an ATI all in wonder 8500. It's named triton and I hardly use my desktop. It's running NetBSD, but a dated version. Still works just fine but I haven't had much luck running correct resolutions on my widescreen with the old version of XFree86.

The goal in the beginning was to make a case with six 120mm fans blowing from bottom to top. I knew it would be noisy but I wanted it cool so I could overclock. These days it's not worth overclocking at all, and the case is just a fucked up dream of a bygone era.

Yay. I think I'm going to give up on this CCNA class. I've come to realize in the past two classes I really don't want to be doing this. Ever.

i liked it before they decided to cram QoS and all that other shit into it... i keep suggesting to brumley that they should go modular with their curriculum, eg. the CCNA is required as a general program but then just do specialized classes (QoS, BGP, advanced switching, etc...) and then award the CCNP after so many specialized classes/tests have been passed (sort of like the MCSE). it would require a more devoted teaching staff but i think you would get better, more specialized (and hopefully knowledgeable in their specialized field) workers with less of a dropout rate, due to the incredibly broad range of knowledge required. Maybe it's just because i hated QoS and some of the redix switching stuff so much, but i wouldn't want to work on that in a networking environment anyway.

@phi: yeah i felt the same way, that's what got me into teaching.

have you looked at the new CCNP curriculum? apparently they got rid of a shit load of the QoS because cisco added a command like enable QoS and all that extra shit is useless now. im kinda pissed because i got through CCNP2 and they switched to the new curriculum which is shit loads different than the last one. I may end up taking CCNP1 and 2 again after finishing 3 and 4 this year just so i can get all the new stuff.

im still up in the air about getting my CCNA cert. I want to go into biomedical IT, basically working on PAC's networks in hospitals and that really doesn't require me getting the certs but if I want to get hired at another hospital besides St. Vincents for my first job I really think I should have it. If I get the CCNA, I will take the CCNP.

Where the hell do you guys get these jobs?

being a PAC's admin and being to write protocols for the standard aren't actually to common. You need basic networking skills and a knowledge of IIS but after that you mostly work with the DICOM standard which not a lot of people know about. You need a pretty good knowledge of how radiology works, such as X-ray's, MRI, CT's, Nuc Med and also Networking as well as Windows server skills.

Give me some documentation on this. This sounds interesting.
